SAS is building a new main lounge at its Copenhagen hub, and it plans to open it in June 2027. The airline shared the first look on Sept. 24 in a press release. Future Travel Experience covered it again on Oct. 4.
The new space is big. SAS says it covers about 3,700 square meters, or roughly 40,000 square feet. That is about 40% more room than the current lounge. It will have 1,095 seats and can handle up to 4,000 visitors a day.
Where it is and what's inside
The lounge will sit on the fourth floor of Terminal 3 at Copenhagen Airport (CPH). It will be on a single floor, with a high ceiling, lots of daylight and wide views of the runways.
SAS has split the space into zones. They are called Eat & Drink, Social, Family, Focus, Relax, Silent Relax and Sleep. Some of the seats are set aside for rest.
Here is what SAS says the lounge will include:
- An Exclusive Zone for the airline's most loyal top-tier frequent flyers.
- Private hotel rooms for resting between flights.
- 24 private work pods.
- More showers and restrooms than the current lounge.
- A bar serving signature SAS cocktails, plus barista coffee.
- A bakery with fresh pastries, treats and snacks.
- A menu that mixes Scandinavian and international dishes and changes through the day.
The design is Scandinavian, with natural materials. SAS says it will reuse recycled SAS textiles and some furniture from what it calls "the former SAS Lounge Copenhagen."
A lounge built for crowds
Space is the real story here. SAS plans to use digital occupancy monitoring to track how full the lounge is and keep it from getting packed at peak times.
Paul Verhagen, SAS's executive vice president and chief commercial officer, said: "Our new signature lounge will be a destination of its own, redefining the journey." He said it is "designed to handle high demand without feeling crowded," while also giving space to the airline's most frequent travelers.
He also tied the lounge to growth at the hub. "As passenger numbers grow and we strengthen Copenhagen as our main hub, this lounge reflects our ongoing development," he said.
SAS presents the lounge as part of a wider premium push. That includes the return of a business class on European flights and upgrading the partner lounges it uses across Europe.
The SAS lounge you'll use until then
Today's SAS Lounge is in the Schengen area of Terminal 3, at the C gates near gate C10. It sits right across from the entrance to passport control, so travelers on non-Schengen flights use it before they clear passports. The former SAS Gold Lounge was merged into it in October 2025.
It rates 3.4 out of 5 on Lounge Frog. It scores well for coffee, Wi-Fi and workspace, at 4 each. But it gets just 2 out of 5 for crowding, its lowest score. That is the problem the new lounge is meant to fix.
Our listing shows it has one shower, rest cabins, work pods, a barista bar and a kids' zone. It opens about an hour before the first SAS flight and closes around the last one. Access is for SAS Business and SAS Plus passengers, EuroBonus Gold and Diamond members, and SkyTeam Elite Plus members flying SAS or SkyTeam that day. Gold and Diamond members can bring one guest, or up to four immediate family on the same flight. Paid entry is 349 Danish kroner or 4,300 EuroBonus points, when space allows.
Other lounges at Copenhagen
If you can't get into the SAS lounge, Lounge Frog lists four other lounges at CPH:
- Danske Bank Aviator Business Lounge, Schengen, rated 3.6. It is the contract lounge for several airlines, including Air France, KLM, Finnair and LOT. Walk-in entry is 289 Danish kroner for up to three hours.
- Aspire Lounge, Schengen, rated 3.3. Open to Priority Pass, LoungeKey and DragonPass.
- Carlsberg Aviator Lounge, Schengen, rated 2.8. Priority Pass, LoungeKey and some Star Alliance passengers.
- Pearl Lounge, the only non-Schengen lounge in our listings, rated 3.4, with one shower. Priority Pass, LoungeKey and DragonPass.
See our Copenhagen airport page for hours and details. Air Canada is keeping its Copenhagen flights year-round, and another European hub is also getting new lounges: SWISS plans new Business and Senator lounges at Zurich in early 2027.
What we don't know yet
SAS has not said who qualifies for the Exclusive Zone. It has not said how the hotel rooms will be booked or what they will cost. The release does not give an exact opening date in June, or say when the current lounge will close. It also does not say whether entry rules or paid-entry prices will change. We will update this story when SAS shares more.
