The real difference
The shared ground here is broader than usual: both Business Platinum and Venture X unlock Priority Pass and Plaza Premium. That covers a lot of international terminals identically.
The split comes from proprietary lounges. Business Platinum adds Centurion Lounge, Escape Lounges, and Delta Sky Club, though Sky Club only admits you when you are flying Delta that day. Venture X answers with Capital One Lounge. Which of those brands sits in your home terminal is the question that settles most comparisons between these two.
Where each card has the edge
Business Platinum lists an $895 annual fee; Venture X lists $395. The $500 difference is large enough that the Amex card needs to deliver lounges you will use repeatedly, not just occasionally. It does that best for Delta flyers, for travelers based at Centurion airports, and for anyone who hits Escape locations regularly.
Venture X wins on value when a Capital One Lounge is at your airport, and it wins outright for people who do not qualify for or want a business card. Because both cards already cover Priority Pass and Plaza Premium, a traveler whose trips are mostly international may find the practical difference smaller than the fee gap suggests.
