Airport by airport
Lounges each card opens, busiest airports first.
And 405 more airports; each card's page lists them all.
This is a comparison between a general travel card and an airline card, and the lounge access reflects that split. Citi's Strata Elite works on any airline. American Express's Delta SkyMiles Reserve only works when you are flying Delta. Which one fits depends on how much of your flying is on Delta.
What the Strata Elite unlocks
At $595 a year, the Strata Elite includes Priority Pass with no airline condition attached. It also includes Admirals Club access, but with a limit on passes per year rather than unlimited entry. Treat the Admirals Club benefit as an occasional bonus, not a routine one.
What the Delta Reserve unlocks
At $650, the Delta Reserve opens Delta Sky Club and the Centurion Lounge network. Both come with the same condition: you must be flying Delta that same day. There is no Priority Pass on this card. On a United or American ticket, the Delta Reserve gets you into nothing.
The situations each card wins
The Delta Reserve wins if Delta is your airline. At a Delta hub, Sky Club plus Centurion access on one card is a strong combination, and no amount of Priority Pass makes up for it. The Centurion Lounge network in particular is something the Strata Elite cannot reach at all.
The Strata Elite wins if your flying is mixed. Priority Pass does not care which airline you booked. Add the Admirals Club passes for the American trips and you have coverage across carriers, which the Delta Reserve simply does not offer.
There is also a $55 fee difference in the Strata Elite's favor. That is small enough that it should not drive the decision. The airline question should.
The fine print, briefly
Same-day flight rules on the Delta Reserve are strict in practice, so a Delta lounge is off-limits on a non-Delta itinerary even at a Delta hub. The Strata Elite's Admirals Club passes are capped per year. Guest rules, caps and enrollment steps are set by each program and issuer. Confirm them on the terms before applying.
How to decide from your next three trips
Look at your next three departures. Count how many are on Delta. If it is three of three, take the Delta Reserve and enjoy the Centurion access. If it is one or none, the Strata Elite's Priority Pass is the only benefit that will work every time. Check each airport's page here to see which lounges each card actually opens in your terminal. Lounge ratings follow the methodology.
