American Express opened a Centurion Lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on September 17, 2026. It is the 33rd lounge in the Centurion network and the first on the European mainland to carry the Centurion name. Amex also says it is the first lounge at Schiphol run by a global credit card company, according to its announcement.
Until now, Amex's only Centurion Lounge in Europe was the one at London Heathrow. Stockholm Arlanda has an Amex lounge too, but it runs under a different name.
Where it is and when it's open
The lounge sits between Concourses E and F, on the non-Schengen side of the airport. It is open every day from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The location matters. Schiphol splits flights into two zones. Flights to other Schengen countries, like France, Spain and Germany, leave from one side. Flights to the US, the UK and other non-Schengen places leave from the other, after passport control.
So the lounge is easy to reach if you are flying from Amsterdam to the US or the UK. If you are flying within the Schengen area, you would have to pass through passport control to reach it, then pass back again for your flight. On a short connection, that is rarely worth it.
What's inside
At nearly 6,000 square feet (about 550 square meters), this is one of the smaller Centurion Lounges. For comparison, the Salt Lake City lounge is roughly three times bigger.
Amex says the design draws on Amsterdam's canals and Dutch landscapes, with blues, greens and earth tones. Work by Dutch artists Mieke Jonker, Reinder Schmidt, Geesien Postema and Thirza Schaap hangs throughout. Large windows let in plenty of light.
According to Amex, the lounge has:
- A Blue Roast Coffee Bar, with baristas serving locally sourced coffee. It is only the fourth coffee bar in the Centurion network.
- A buffet with seasonal dishes inspired by Dutch and European food
- A full bar with beer and cocktails
- Places to work and rest, including armchairs, booths, high tables and a spot for phone calls
- Free high-speed Wi-Fi and lots of power outlets and USB ports
There are no showers. Amex's release doesn't list any, and early visitors confirmed that.
Who gets in
You need an eligible American Express card and a same-day departing flight. Amex says these cards get you in:
- The Platinum Card and Business Platinum Card, including Platinum cards issued in other countries, such as the Netherlands
- The Centurion Card
- The Delta SkyMiles Reserve and Reserve Business cards, when you booked your same-day Delta flight with the card
Platinum cardholders who spend $75,000 or more a year on eligible purchases can bring up to two guests free. Centurion cardholders can bring up to two guests or their immediate family. Everyone else pays for guests. Under Amex's rules since July 2026, guests must also be on the same flight as the cardholder.
As at other Centurion Lounges, you can enter up to three hours before departure. On a layover, the window is longer. See the full rules on our Centurion Lounge program page.
Other lounges on the same side
If you can't get into the Centurion Lounge, there are several other lounges in Schiphol's non-Schengen area:
- KLM Crown Lounge 52: KLM's flagship, with 20 showers. Rated 4.5 out of 5 by our users. For KLM and SkyTeam premium passengers and elites.
- Aspire Lounge 41: open to Priority Pass members. It has two showers and is rated 4.6.
- oneworld Lounge: for British Airways and other oneworld travelers.
The Amex Platinum Card also includes Priority Pass, so Platinum cardholders can choose between the Centurion Lounge and Aspire Lounge 41.
What's next for Centurion
Amex says more Centurion Lounges are on the way. The next openings are planned for Newark and Boston Logan, plus a smaller Sidecar by The Centurion Lounge at Charlotte. Amex hasn't announced any more European locations. See every lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol.
