Delta is about to close the last big gap in its free Wi-Fi. The airline says fast, free Delta Sync Wi-Fi will start rolling out on its trans-Pacific routes later this month. It will then spread across more routes over the following weeks. Delta announced the news on October 9, 2026. You can read Delta's announcement for details.
Delta says it has received the regulatory approval it needed. Once the Pacific is online, Delta says it will be the only U.S. global airline to offer free Wi-Fi across its whole global network. It says that network spans six continents.
What changes for Pacific flyers
Until now, Delta's long flights across the Pacific were the main part of its network without free Wi-Fi. Those are some of the airline's longest trips. Delta says the rollout will help customers work, stream and message on those flights.
Delta has not said which routes will get Wi-Fi first. It also has not given an end date for the full rollout. It says only that the service will expand across routes in the weeks after launch.
Delta says nearly 1,300 of its aircraft already have Wi-Fi. That is more than 95% of its fleet.
How to get online
Delta's free Wi-Fi is for SkyMiles members. Signing up for SkyMiles is free, and you can even join on board. According to Delta's Wi-Fi page, you connect like this:
- Wait until the boarding door closes.
- Turn on Airplane Mode, then turn Wi-Fi back on.
- Pick the DeltaWiFi.com network.
- Log in with your SkyMiles number, or join for free.
If the login page does not open, type DeltaWiFi.com into your browser. Delta says you can use the Wi-Fi on more than one device.
To check whether your flight has free Wi-Fi, Delta says to look for the free Wi-Fi label when you book. Pre-flight emails and app alerts will also tell you. Delta's Wi-Fi page includes a coverage map too.
How Delta got here
The Pacific is the last step in a rollout that has run for a few years. Delta finished its domestic mainline fleet first. In an earlier update, Delta said its transatlantic routes to Europe, Israel and West Africa would all have free Wi-Fi by early April. It said South America would follow. You can read that earlier update on Delta's news site.
The Wi-Fi is sponsored by T-Mobile. Delta calls it Delta Sync Wi-Fi presented by T-Mobile.
What it means before you board
Free Wi-Fi on a long flight takes some pressure off the lounge. Many travelers use the lounge to answer email and make calls before a long trip. If you can do that in the air, you may not need to log on at the gate.
The lounge still matters for food, showers and a quiet space. Delta's big Pacific hubs have plenty of options. You can find Delta's lounges at Los Angeles, Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis and Seattle in our directory. See who can get in on our Delta Sky Club page.
Delta has not said whether Wi-Fi speeds on Pacific flights will match those on domestic routes. We will update this story when Delta shares a list of routes.
