Singapore Airlines is replacing its KrisWorld entertainment system and moving its longest-haul jets to Starlink. The airline set out the plan in a press release on Oct. 22. Most of it will not reach passengers until 2027. Still, it tells you a lot about which Singapore Airlines planes to look for over the next few years.
Where the new system goes first
The new KrisWorld will not arrive as a software update across the fleet. It comes with new cabins. Singapore Airlines says it is retrofitting 41 Airbus A350-900 long-haul and A350-900ULR aircraft, which will return to service in stages from 2027. Those planes get new Business Class seats and refreshed Premium Economy and Economy seats. The ultra-long-range A350s will also get a First Class cabin for the first time.
The system will also be on the Boeing 777-9, the airline's next flagship. That plane is due to carry all four of the airline's new cabins: First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy.
So if you fly a 777-300ER, A380 or 787-10 next year, expect today's KrisWorld. The release does not say when, or whether, those fleets will get the new screens.
Bigger, sharper screens
The headline hardware is a 4K touchscreen at every seat on the new installs, with OLED panels on some aircraft and cabins. According to the airline's spec sheet:
| Cabin | Screen size | Headphones |
|---|---|---|
| First | 32 inches | Bang & Olufsen, noise-canceling |
| Business | Up to 22 inches | Noise-canceling |
| Premium Economy | Up to 16 inches | Noise-canceling |
| Economy | Up to 13 inches | Wired earphones |
Business Class on the retrofitted A350s gets a 22-inch OLED screen. The 777-9 Business screen is listed at 20 inches. In every cabin you can pair your own Bluetooth headphones, which ends the hunt for an adapter. The new A350 cabins and the 777-9 also get USB-C ports, and First and Business seats get wireless charging pads.
What changes on the screen
The software side is a full redesign. The airline describes larger icons, better search and filters, and a mini-player that keeps a film running in a corner while you browse. A sidebar shows flight progress and weather at your destination without stopping your show. There is a Kids' Mode and a wellness section with sleep tracks, breathing videos and in-seat stretches. Spatial audio is listed for all cabins on the retrofitted A350-900.
The library grows to more than 2,500 titles, refreshed each month. Singapore Airlines names Apple TV, BBC, CNA, HBO Max, iQIYI and Paramount+ among its content partners, plus live BBC News and BBC Sport channels.
The most useful change for frequent flyers may be the KrisFlyer login. Signed-in members can resume a film they did not finish on an earlier flight, save favorites and get suggestions. They can also see gate and terminal details for a connecting Singapore Airlines flight out of Changi. In First and Business on the new aircraft, you can save your preferred seat position for later trips. First Class passengers can save lighting settings too.
"Our customers told us that they wanted more choice and flexibility in how they spend their time on board," said Yeoh Phee Teik, the airline's senior vice president for customer experience.
Starlink on the A380 and A350s
The connectivity news may matter more on a 13-hour flight than any screen. Singapore Airlines says Starlink will roll out in stages from early 2027 on the A380, the A350-900 long-haul and the A350-900ULR. It has not confirmed plans for the rest of the fleet.
Free Wi-Fi stays in place on Starlink-equipped jets. Suites, First and Business passengers get unlimited free access. So do KrisFlyer and PPS Club members in Premium Economy and Economy. In practice, joining KrisFlyer before you fly is the key to free Wi-Fi in the back. The release does not say what passengers who are not members will pay.
That puts Singapore Airlines alongside other long-haul carriers that now treat fast, free Wi-Fi as a basic part of the trip. United and Delta have both made big Wi-Fi pushes this month.
What comes next
The airline says the full new travel experience, including its next long-haul seats, dining and amenities, will be shown in Singapore in November 2026. It recently announced Business Class sleeper suits and new amenity kits starting the same month.
None of this changes the ground experience yet. Premium passengers flying out of Changi still use the SilverKris Business Lounge in Terminal 3 or the SilverKris First Lounge in Terminal 3. See the Singapore Airlines page for the full fleet and the Changi airport guide for every lounge there.
