United has launched a tool that lets passengers check whether an upcoming flight is scheduled to have Starlink Wi-Fi. Its October 15, 2026, announcement also extends the airline's “Switch to Better Wi-Fi” status match campaign through October 22.
United says Starlink is now active on more than 635 mainline and United Express aircraft, covering more than 2,500 flights a day. That is nearly half its daily departures, according to the airline, rather than the entire network.
How the new tracker works
The Starlink tracker accepts a flight number and travel date within three days of departure. United says it updates for last-minute aircraft changes and also displays fleet installation totals and availability by hub.
Those hub views cover Chicago, Newark, Washington, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston and Denver. The tracker can help a passenger see the rollout, but a hub-wide percentage does not establish the equipment on a specific flight.
In the official release, United notes that aircraft assignments are typically confirmed within 24 hours of departure and remain subject to change. Check again near departure if internet access matters to the trip.
The airline also says it flags planned Starlink service in preflight messages, its app's flight status page and onboard information. These are additional checks rather than a reason to ignore a changed aircraft.
The rollout is still under way
United says it is installing Starlink on about 20 aircraft a week and plans to complete installations by the end of 2027. Its reported total combines United mainline aircraft and United Express regional jets.
The airline says more than 250,000 customers fly on equipped planes on an average day. Those network figures describe the scale of the service; they are not a guarantee of speed, availability or equipment on every route.
The announcement follows Starlink installations on United's Guam-based 737 MAX 8 fleet. The new tracker is useful because availability now needs to be checked across several aircraft groups, rather than inferred from one fleet announcement.
The status match has a new deadline
United says eligible Delta SkyMiles and American AAdvantage members can apply through October 22. The campaign offers a path to Premier status through January 2028 by meeting spending requirements and taking a United or United Express flight within 90 days.
The release lists spending thresholds of $1,500 for Silver, $3,000 for Gold, $4,500 for Platinum and $7,000 for 1K. Consult the full campaign terms for eligibility and what counts toward those amounts.
This is a conditional status offer. Merely submitting an application or having a competing airline's status does not establish that every requirement has been met.
Our earlier status match coverage provides background, while the October 15 announcement supplies the extended deadline.
Plan the ground experience separately
The tracker concerns the aircraft, and the campaign concerns Premier status. Neither should be treated as a blanket promise of lounge entry.
For an itinerary through Newark, Chicago O'Hare or Washington Dulles, check the relevant airport and your ticket's access conditions. Our coverage of United's Dulles plans and large new clubs distinguishes announced projects from the room available on the day.
The immediate gain is a more precise way to check onboard connectivity. Use the tracker close to departure, and evaluate the status match only if the spending and flight requirements fit travel you expect to take.
