Delta has rebuilt the wine list in Delta One. The new selection started pouring Oct. 1, according to Delta's announcement.
Delta says it started with 1,600 wines and narrowed them to 13 from 11 wineries. Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson, who has worked on Delta's list for more than 20 years, did the selecting. For the first time, SkyMiles members took part in blind tastings to help decide.
What's in the glass
Napa Valley anchors the list. Each wine pours for about six months, so the lineup will change by spring:
- Silver Oak: international Delta One, October 2026 to March 2027
- Trefethen, Crossbarn by Paul Hobbs and Freemark Abbey: domestic Delta One, October 2026 to March 2027
- St. Supéry Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon: both domestic and international, through September 2027
- Patz & Hall (Sonoma): international Delta One, April to September 2027
The rest of the list comes from France, Spain and New Zealand. Delta's release doesn't name those producers.
The bigger change for domestic premium flyers is the Champagne. Taittinger, which was already served in international Delta One, now comes to domestic Delta One routes as well.
Where it meets the lounge
Delta says Taittinger is also complimentary in its Delta One Lounges. That means you can get a glass before boarding and on the plane.
There are Delta One Lounges at JFK, LAX (plus a second one in Terminal 2), Boston and Seattle. All of them have craft cocktail bars.
Why airline wine is different
Dry cabin air and lower pressure dull how we taste and smell. Delta says it tested every candidate for how it holds up in flight, favoring wines with fresh fruit, balance and enough structure to work with the menu.
Flight attendant leads trained in Delta's Sky Sommelier program can answer questions about what's being poured.
