Detroit’s Lufthansa Lounge Takes Priority Pass—Until the Clock Says It Doesn’t.
A participating lounge can still be unavailable for the part of the day you need it. Detroit makes that distinction painfully clear.

Analysis and opinion · Sources checked October 4, 2026.
“Priority Pass accepted” sounds like the end of your lounge research. In Detroit, it needs to be the beginning.
The Lufthansa Business Lounge at Detroit Metropolitan Airport participates in the network, but Priority Pass access is restricted to specific hours. The current listing shows 6 a.m. to noon and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. for Monday through Saturday, and expressly says members will not be admitted outside the displayed windows. The page, checked October 4, 2026, does not display a Sunday schedule. Confirm your specific travel day before relying on it. Priority Pass’s Detroit listing
If your useful airport time falls in the afternoon gap, knowing the lounge exists does not help much.
The benefit has opening hours of its own
This is the distinction that trips people up: a lounge’s operation and a partner membership’s admission window are different things.
You may see the door open. You may see other passengers entering. Neither establishes that your particular access program is being accepted at that moment.
An August 2025 Reddit post about the Detroit lounge described a traveler arriving around 3 p.m. and being refused because of a Priority Pass restriction. It is a personal account we have not independently verified. The poster described a noon-to-4 p.m. blackout then; the current published hours differ.
That is precisely why an old review—or a screenshot saved last year—cannot settle today’s eligibility.
A correct refusal can still expose a weak product
There is no need to accuse reception staff of inventing rules to criticize the result. If a lounge is advertised as part of your network but unavailable during the only window your itinerary allows, it delivers no lounge value on that trip.
A large global total obscures this easily. Travelers do not use a worldwide lounge collection in the abstract. They use one airport, one terminal and one time slot.
The fair complaint belongs with the presentation of the benefit. Access restrictions should be as easy to discover as the lounge’s photos. A warning tucked below the appealing headline is information, but it is not particularly good trip planning.
Check the door before walking to it
At Detroit, confirm your terminal, access credential, travel day and permitted hours before making the trip to reception. Ask specifically about Priority Pass entry, because asking whether the lounge is open may answer the wrong question.
Have a fallback that works without lounge admission. It is much easier to choose a restaurant while you still have time than after spending that time proving your card is valid.
And when you evaluate your membership, record refusals caused by time restrictions alongside successful visits. A lounge can be genuinely participating and practically useless to your itinerary. The marketing should not get credit for the first fact while you absorb the second.
