The 10 worst-rated airport lounges in Southeast Asia, and where to go instead

Seven of the ten are in Bangkok and none are in Singapore. Outside Thailand, the worst lounge is often the only one. Here is a better room at each airport.

Seven of the ten lounges on this list are at one airport, and that is the main thing to know about lounges in Southeast Asia. Bangkok Suvarnabhumi has more lounges on our site than anywhere else in the region, and a lot of them are contract rooms sold to every card network at once. Singapore Changi has almost as many rated lounges, and none of them comes close to the bottom. Its weakest rated lounge with enough data to qualify scores 4.3. Once you leave Bangkok, the bad lounges are mostly at airports where there is nothing better to walk to.

How I picked them: I took every open lounge in the region with an overall rating built from at least eight rated metrics, ranked by overall score, and broke ties on the lowest individual metric. More than 30 lounges qualify, so I didn't need to lower the bar. Every one was checked against its lounge record for closures. The scores are Lounge Frog's editorial ratings, explained on our methodology page. Most of the Bangkok records say plainly that they are built from published facilities and linked reviews, not a visit of our own.

Bangkok's pay-per-use rooms

1. The Coral Executive Lounge (Domestic), 2.8. This is the worst-rated qualifying lounge in the region, and it's a domestic room on Concourse A, open 05:00 to 22:00. Priority Pass and DragonPass both get in, and walk-ups pay from about $29 pre-booked. Seating (4) and drinks (4) are fine. Restrooms and exclusivity both score 1. Exclusivity is the problem with every lounge in this group: when every card network in the world opens the same door, the room is never quiet. For Priority Pass members on a domestic flight there is no better option. The other card lounge on the domestic side, the Miracle Lounge on Concourse D, rates 2.0, though only from four metrics. If you're flying Bangkok Airways, its Blue Ribbon Club lounge rates 3.3. If you're in THAI business class, the domestic Royal Silk Lounge rates 2.9, which is barely better.

4. Miracle First and Business Class Lounge (Concourse D), 3.1. It doesn't do everything badly. It has two showers that rate 5, food that rates 4, and it is open around the clock. What sinks it is that Priority Pass, DragonPass and Plaza Premium members all share it: exclusivity rates 1 and crowding 2. On the same concourse, The Coral Finest Business room takes the same Priority Pass and DragonPass members and rates 3.3, though only from four metrics. I'd walk one concourse over to The Coral Cosmo & Cocoon on Concourse C, which rates 3.6 with quiet at 4. Its exclusivity is still a 1, so this is the best of a crowded set, not an escape from the crowd.

Bangkok's airline lounges

You might expect the airline lounges at BKK to be the fallback. Some of them are on this list too.

5. Thai Airways Royal Silk Lounge (Concourse D), 3.3. THAI's main business-class lounge at its own hub. Coffee rates 5, restrooms 5, and food 4, so the basics are there. Views rate 1, crowding 2, and wifi 2, and there are no showers. It is a big room built for transfer banks, and it shows. It also closes at 20:00. If you have Star Alliance Gold, the SilverKris Lounge opposite gate D7 admits you on a same-day Star Alliance flight and rates 4.3. THAI business-class passengers without status don't have that option.

6. Oman Air First and Business Class Lounge, 3.3. Ties with THAI on the overall score and ranks one place better because its lowest scores are 2s rather than a 1. Service, drinks and cleanliness all score 5. Power, wifi and workspace all score 2, so it is a pleasant place to sit and a poor place to work. The record notes that its supporting reviews and photos are from earlier years, so treat this score as provisional. Oman Air joined oneworld in June 2025. If you hold oneworld Emerald or Sapphire, the Cathay Pacific lounge on Concourse G rates 4.2 and admits elites on a same-day oneworld flight. It's a long walk from Concourse E, so it's only worth it on a long wait.

8. Turkish Airlines Lounge, 3.6. Restrooms rate 5. Quiet, seating, workspace and crowding all rate 4. Coffee, at 2, is the weak spot, and nothing else is exciting. Star Alliance Gold members flying Turkish can take the same walk along Concourse D to the 4.3 SilverKris Lounge, and I would.

9. Air France-KLM Sky Lounge, 3.6. Nothing in this lounge rates below 3. It is here because the rest of the region is better, not because anything is broken. Coffee, restrooms and workspace are 3s, the bar is self-serve, and there are no showers. Korean Air sends its passengers here too. SkyTeam has no better room at BKK. The China Airlines Dynasty Lounge rates 3.3 from four metrics, so stay put.

10. Qatar Airways Bangkok Premium Lounge, 4.1. By tenth place the list is no longer about bad lounges. Every metric here is a 4 except quiet, which is a 5. It ranks because the qualifying pool runs out of weak lounges before it runs out of places. Its only rated rival is the 4.2 Cathay Pacific lounge, which is open to oneworld elites but not to Qatar business-class passengers without status. That is a 0.1-point difference, and not worth leaving Concourse D for. The full ranking for the airport is on the BKK leaderboard.

Outside Bangkok: low scores with no better option nearby

At these three airports, the low-rated lounge is often the only one you can get into.

2. Garuda Indonesia Business Class Lounge (International), 2.9. This is the best-documented lounge on the list, rated on 15 metrics, and the scores are uneven. Service, exclusivity, cleanliness, crowding, power and the single shower are all rated 4. Food, seating, quiet, restrooms, wifi, workspace and views are all 2s. In other words, it is well staffed and not crowded, but the room and the food are weak. On the international side of Jakarta's Terminal 3, the only other lounge on our site is the Saphire Plaza Premium Lounge near gate 6, open 24/7 for Priority Pass. We haven't rated it yet, so I can't tell you from our data that it's better. It is the one I would try first if my card gets me in.

3. Plaza Premium Lounge (International Departures), Penang, 3.0. This is a mezzanine room near gate A3, open 06:00 to midnight. Priority Pass visits are capped at two hours, and walk-ins pay from MYR 128. Food (4) and restrooms (4) are fine. Coffee (2) and exclusivity (2) are not. It is the only international lounge at Penang on our site, so there is no alternative. Eat before you clear passport control or accept it.

7. Sky Suite Airport Lounge (Satellite), Kuala Lumpur, 3.4. This one makes the list even though it's the best Priority Pass lounge in KLIA Terminal 1. It is open 24/7 on the Satellite mezzanine by gate C5, with a three-hour cap. Quiet, views, seating and cleanliness are 4s, while drinks (2) and exclusivity (2) pull it down. The other Priority Pass rooms in Terminal 1 rate lower, though from fewer metrics: Plaza Premium at the Contact Pier is 2.0 and Travel Club on the Satellite is 2.7. With oneworld status, the Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounge is in the same Satellite building and rates 3.9.

What didn't qualify

Some lounges rate lower than anything above but have too few rated metrics to rank fairly. Three examples are the domestic Miracle Lounge at BKK (2.0), the Plaza Premium Contact Pier room at KUL (2.0), and the klia2 Travel Club near gate L8 (2.3, six metrics). Lounges at Manila, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Bali and Phuket are mostly unrated so far. The Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge in Manila would have tied the Turkish lounge at 3.6, but it closed on June 15, 2026, so it is left out. No nap pods or spas came close to ranking.
